Sharon Stieben is an entrepreneur, business professional and lifelong learner whose career reflects a deep commitment to personal growth, creativity, social responsibility and making a meaningful difference. With more than twenty-five years of experience in human services across Manitoba and Ontario, she has developed a strong understanding of people, relationships, organizational dynamics and the importance of well-being. Her professional background, combined with her education in psychology, social work and business, has shaped her distinctive perspective on leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.

In 2019, Sharon took a bold step in a new direction, leaving her full-time provincial government career to pursue her entrepreneurial vision through Dahleila Jane. Inspired by her love of animals, nature and sustainable living, she created a collection of versatile, functional and environmentally conscious bags made from organic cotton. Her entrepreneurial journey took her beyond traditional business development. Driven by curiosity and a desire to create something different, Sharon travelled throughout Scotland, the United Kingdom and the United States, exploring materials, manufacturing processes, design possibilities and emerging ideas. She brought these experiences together to develop products that combine practicality, thoughtful design and environmental awareness.

A natural problem-solver and creative thinker, Sharon approaches business with the same values that have guided her professional career: compassion, integrity, innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement. She believes that successful businesses can be both commercially sustainable and socially responsible. Her interests extend beyond entrepreneurship into leadership, organizational development, human resources and workplace well-being. She continues to invest in her education and professional development, exploring how business, human behaviour and organizational practices can intersect to create healthier, more inclusive and sustainable workplaces.

At her core, Sharon is driven by curiosity, independence and a desire to keep evolving. Whether building a business, developing new ideas or pursuing new professional challenges, she brings determination, adaptability and a belief that meaningful work should reflect both personal values and a larger purpose.

Remembering Dahleila Jane: A Legacy of Love
Meet Dahleila Jane (Dahlei), the beloved and spirited Husky/Shepherd Cross from Norway House, MB. Dahlei’s playful antics and joyful presence brought laughter and warmth to everyone she met—from neighborhood children and cherished seniors to close friends. Though she is deeply missed, her vibrant spirit lives on through the Dahleila Jane flower, a tribute designed by Kaylene in collaboration with Sharon.

Dahlei’s legacy continues to touch the lives of her family, including her feline brother Prince Charles (Charlie), neighbors Darlene, Kaylene, Mallory, and her best friend Bailey the beagle. At nearly thirteen years old, Dahlei left us due to cancer, but her memory remains a cherished part of our hearts.

In honor of Dahlei, every purchase of our Paws & Hope Organic Cotton cat/small dog hammock supports Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue. This initiative helps other dogs in need, including our newest family member, Islay—a lovable Husky/Shepherd/Collie Cross from Oxford House, MB—giving them the chance to live their best lives.

Dahlei’s paw prints are forever imprinted on our hearts, and Islay’s presence continues to create new memories, keeping her spirit alive in our hearts.

Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue
Manitoba Mutts is a local charity that takes in dogs and cats from across Manitoba that are abandoned, abused or surrendered at no fault of their own. They provide for the care, maintenance and rehabilitation of stray, abandoned and displaced animals and promote and improve the welfare of all animals through enhancement, protection, care, education and advocacy. When you adopt a rescue, you save a loving animal by making them part of your family and open up space for another animal who might desperately need it.
